About the tour

Trekkng in Iceland is an opportunity to learn one of the most mysterious countries on Earth in all its manifestations. We seem to find ourselves in another world that strikes us.This country speaks its beautiful language of geysers, rivers, waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, has its own special character.

Day 1: The heart of Iceland

On arrival, we meet at the airport in Reykjavik and we go to the hotel. After a little rest, we will have a sightseeing tour around the capital, where we get acquainted with its past and present. We will see one of the oldest churches – Bessastaðir, the lighthouse and landmark of the city – Hallgrímskirkja cathedral, the city hall, the parliament of Reykjavik and much more. We will dine together in one of the best restaurants in the city.

Day 2: Golden day

We are moving to the east, along the peaks of Mount Eyja, to Lake Þingvallavatn – the largest lake in the country. On the edge of the lake stands the Lechberg cliff "rock of law" – a historical place. It's from this cliff ancient people read the laws, made speeches, made the decision to accept Christianity and it was here that the country's independence was proclaimed in a thousand years. We will stop nearby to visit the "pearl" of Iceland – Thingvellir National Park, where we see the rift valley: the border of two lithospheric plates, the North American and the Eurasian. Also we will visit the valley of the geysers with their seething turquoise water and fountains of several tens of meters. On the way we will see the multi-level "golden" waterfall Gullfoss. Justifying its name, golden color appears on a sunny day, when the spindrift, standing above the cascade of water, forms several rainbows at once.

Day 3: Beyond the mountains

We are on our way to one of the most picturesque natural attractions in Iceland – Fjallabak Nature Reserve, which literally means "beyond the mountains", where a huge part of untouched wilderness lies. The terrain is diverse: numerous rivers, mountain lakes and glaciers that fill valleys. We will make a day trip to the Ljotipollur crater, in the center of which we see a bright blue lake filling a small volcano crater. The path to it is unusual, it passes through lava deserts, swamps and ice. At the end of the day, rising to the southern slope, we will find the forgotten hot springs in a secluded valley. Here we will stop at the campsite to plunge into the hot natural pools and relax after a hard eventfull day.

Day 4: Landmannalaugar

Early in the morning we will begin our journey to Landmannalaugar and make the first trek on the lava field of Laugaraun. On the way we will get directly to the picturesque hills of the Brennisteinsalda volcano. The color palette of these places is simply fascinates: gray, blue, red, green shades sparkle under the sun's rays and create an eternal rainbow in this place. Nature will also surprise us: the sunlight will be replaced by piles of snow as the altitude changes, but we will pass through them and soon we will be able to rest in the mountain huts, stopping for lunch. A little refreshment and continue our journey along the Reykjafold hills until we get to the ravines of Jokultungur, where we will see hundreds of smoking springs and bubbling waters. All the day, we will go through the entire variety of landscapes, from mountains to glaciers and descend steep slopes into a green oasis, from where we will get to the camp on the northern shore of Alftavatn lake.

Day 5: Hills and canyones

On this day we will cross the Brattháls Hill and head east to the picturesque green Hvangil ravine, which has become a real treasure for photographers wishing to take unique wildlife shots. Moving in the direction of Ermstur Camping, we will cross the Bratthálskvísl river. Here we're in for a good opportunity to stop and relax. After a hearty lunch, we will have the opportunity to take an evening walk to the incredible deep Markarfljótsgljúfur canyon, bewitching by its view of the raging mountain river. In the same we will split the camp nearby, falling asleep under the sound of waves.

Day 6: Wild rivers

Today, we are faced with a path through many rivers, followed by mountains. We will see the majestic Syðri Emstruá river, which we'll cross the bridge in the gorge – a real test, especially for those who are afraid of heights. After the completion of our heroic crossing, we will go south to the Almenningar. The landscape will please us not by high green hills and tranquil streams of rivers strewn along carpets of flowers and wild berries. On such a picturesque path we will reach Тhorsmork. This is a small piece of Iceland, where the pristine nature has been preserved since the time of the first Viking settlements. A delightful site with green valleys, steep mountain formations and crystal creeks. It is here we will stop at the camp, in the places of the first settlements.

Day 7: Land of the Thôr

This day we will spend on the way to the cozy Skogar village. We will pass along the "land of the Thôr": a place that according to the legend was given to him by the supreme god Odin and had created glaciers Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Tindfjallajökull around. Crystal clear air and water here will not be compared to any corner in the world. Here is also the Sonhellir cave, known for its "singing" echoes. Also we will climb to the top of the Valakhnykor mountain, which lies in the heart of the valley, with wonderful views of the whole neighborhood. In the afternoon we will continue to move south on the passage through the volcanic fields with the active volcanoes of Fimmvorduhals and Eyjafjallajökull, and we will stop for the night in the village.

Day 7: Reykjavik style

The final day of our adventure we will spend in Reykjavik, where we will choose entertainment for any taste. We can go on a tour of the city, trying the best local cuisine and buying rare souvenirs, we can go for a walk with whales, for fishing. Or we'll soak up in the Blue Lagoon, treating ourselves with spa treatments and massages as a reward after a long journey. And in the evening we will gather again for dinner and remember the most colorful moments, before we return home. Perhaps we will meet again, because Iceland is the heart of the world and it is now with us forever.
